What to Expect From This Fixture
Shillong Lajong go into this with the clear tactical edge on paper, fielding an entirely Indian squad built around a settled core under Birendra Thapa. Their forward line, led by Figo Syndai and João Victor de Paula, will look to make the most of home support and unfamiliar surroundings for their opponents.
Mumbai FC, by contrast, are still finding their identity as a Durand Cup side. A newly confirmed squad and debutant status mean there’s little recent form to lean on, and it remains to be seen how quickly this group gels together under tournament pressure. Worth noting that confirmed lineups, injury news and head to head history between these two clubs aren’t available yet at the time of writing, with no prior meeting on record between the sides.
Shillong Lajong Look to Make Home Advantage Count Against Durand Cup Debutants Mumbai FC
Shillong Lajong FC’s settled, fully Indian squad gives them a clear platform heading into this one, while Mumbai FC arrive as one of the tournament’s newest sides still finding their feet. With home support behind them at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Lajong will be confident of getting their campaign off to a winning start against a Mumbai side short on Durand Cup experience but boosted by plenty of outside attention thanks to Tiger Shroff’s inclusion up front.
